Re: The Art of Transformation

Problem: Create a compelling paper sample book that demonstrates the value and qualities of the product it showcases.

Solution: I selected CTI Paper’s Glama Natural line of vellum stock. I chose to focus on the translucency and foldability of the stock. Origami is an art of transformation, so I chose to tell a story of transformative concepts that all shared the common beginning letters “Re”—words like rejuvenation, recreation, reincarnation, etc. Specific Origami forms were selected to symbolically illustrate the concepts of those “Re” words. I photographed the forms against backgrounds that were backlit, showing the translucent, light-interactive nature of the stock. I also included thumbnails of the fold diagrams to communicate how complicated and demanding some of the folds were on the stock, in addition to being visually interesting abstract images.
