My Story

Hey, thanks for visiting my site!

Semi-dramatic intro hook:

I’m a Halloween-born descendant of the Cornish Faust. The devil is in the details, and there you will find us both.

Did that work? If so, there’s a bit more about me below.

Long story made short

I’m a designer, creative leader, and meticulous maker; communicator of value and meaning; bibliophile, typophile, and gamer (PC); prolific researcher, documenter, and information distiller/distributor; Post-it Note enthusiast; purveyor of dry wit and the fine art of sarcasm.

Short story made long(er)

Design thinking is at the core of my perspective and worldview. I'm passionate about the approaches and processes involved in understanding human contexts, and pairing solutions with needs. This has led me to pursue everything from graphic design to product design, communications to marketing, psychology to business philosophy, and innovation to efficiency theory in better understanding and delivering audience/user needs.

  • Proven creative leader. 20 years of visual and verbal communication experience, 16 years in people-leadership roles, 13 years at director level. I love leading and developing people, learning from them, and amplifying their value and strengths.

  • Seasoned visual and verbal storyteller/communicator. I find meaning, relationships, and stories in the world around us—the connections that exist between concepts, contexts, people, language, objects, spaces, symbols, history, culture, etc.

  • Experienced with complicated business aspects. I’ve managed strategic and functional business concerns for complex audience considerations, including B2B2C (direct sales network marketing), international language and culture, and hobby/skill-based product offerings.

  • Insatiable learner and relentless problem solver. I enjoy solving big problems and abstract challenges through research, observation, and interaction. I break big ideas, information, and problems down into core, understandable concepts and actionable paths forward.

  • Creative, critical, associative, and systemic thinker. I’m an analytical creative, guided by a balance of rational and emotional logic, and tempered by experience. I seek correlation and causation in quantitative and qualitative data, identifying patterns and insights across multiple levels of consideration. I look for facts and the stories that emerge from them—not tell stories and identify facts that support them.

  • The gray area is my play area. In a less than black and white world, I navigate areas between disciplines, roles and responsibilities, and conventional understanding to see possibilities. I love connecting dots and distilling information/concepts into clearly understood problems, opportunities, and solutions.

  • Extensive “how” experience. From the highest-level strategies down to granular execution details, from abstract ideas to tangible outputs. I champion process and project management/ownership in the pursuit of efficiency, bandwidth, balance, and sustainability in human and material resource management—not bureaucracy and principle. You get fast by getting good. I can lead it, design it, write it, engineer it, source it, and make it. I can figure it out, whatever it is.
